New.

As graduation nears, I'm preparing to move and transition into something new. Something I hear a lot of people talk about, but not something many people do. Something scary and unsure, yet founded on something greater than myself. Community development. I'm following their model almost to the T, except I didn't read their model until yesterday morning (http://www.ccda.org/). The kinks are still being worked out and what exactly my next year will look like is TBD, it will include a new nonprofit, a new residency, a new job and perhaps an internship thrown in there too - which would include being a new communications director. Did I mention a new neighborhood, new roommates, and helping facilitate change in a community? A lot of this will mix together, and it will flow well. I know this. It's a lot of new, though. Just sayin'.

This blog might start looking different in the next few months, or it might stay the same. My thoughts, mostly spiritual, expressed when I have a few moments. My writing projects continue to pile up and I love it. Absolutely. I'm not sure how many personal stories about the future I can/will share. Also something new will be that discernment. Things are happening in Uptown - that is for sure! I revisited JPUSA (a cafe they are connected with, actually) this afternoon, the last time I was there was seventh grade for my choir performing and serving and living for a couple nights. It was fun to be back, and for the reason I was there. Kind of surreal to be back doing ministry in Uptown. Uptown is one of the many neighborhoods of Chicago, sorry for not informing you of that earlier.

I'm excited to graduate. I'm so ready. What I'm getting myself into won't be easy. It's actually going to be really hard. This past year has been me being prepared for this though, I know. Through failure, through humility, through everything I've learned about relationships and justice and serving and people. I can't even imagine all that I'm about to learn.
