Hello 2011

I want to seek and know God more this year.

I want to love like Christ. Know people, forgive people, love them for their flaws.

I want to be honest. This year I have been more open, truthful and honest with who I am, my sin and my relationship with God, and it has proved to be one of the best things I have ever done. God has worked through it; being "real" is really refreshing.

I want to continue to observe and capture my thoughts, so that I am always living in reality, the truth of each moment God has given me, and not a false reality that I make up in my head.

I want to pray the prayer that has kept me always aware of my weakness, which I posted as my first post. It is The Litany of Humility...you can find it here http://thejustlife.org/home/discipleship/core-concepts/4-dying-to-self/

I will continue to pray for the presence of the Lord to always be with me, and with all those around me. God is with us. He is here. Say hi sometime, if you don't already.

Dear Emma, thank you for your post today and for The Litany of Humility which I am copying into my quote book. WOW, that is powerful!

Your writing is so heartfelt and God centered. I appreciate that quality and thank God for you. I pray The Jesus Prayer often, you know the one:
Lord Jesus Christ
Son of the Living God
Have mercy on me, a sinner.

I also like what Henry Ward Beecher said: "The church is not a gallery for the exhibition of eminent Christians, but a school for the education of imperfect ones."

God be with you on your journey this year. I will pray for you.

Those quotes are really good. It seems like we relearn over and over what Beecher said, every few months you step outside yourself and look at your life and think "Now who am I doing this for?" So challenging. Luckily, Jesus does have infinite mercy for us sinners (and saints!)

Emma -- your writing reminds me of those heady days in my 20s as a college student when I was learning to love the Lord Jesus with all of me. I wish I had possessed your focus and grace. Thanks for spurring me on today with love and good deeds. I'm grateful!
